Ashok Gurung is a Coach and Co-founder of the Transamerican Association of Shito-Ryu
Karate-Do (TASK). His dedication to the martial art is truly commendable. Attaining a 4th Dan
level signifies a remarkable achievement, reflecting his advanced skills and expertise in Shito-
Ryu Karate-Do.
In 1997, Ashok took the initiative to introduce Karate classes in one of the Bhutanese Refugee
camps, Goldhap with supports from his Instructor Shihan Tryamphu Rai, and his friends and
relatives in the camp. Since then, he has nurtured numerous students who have gone on to
achieve black belts and higher levels, earning several medals in national and international karate
tournaments.
What sets Ashok apart is his commitment to training students, even amidst his college schedule,
particularly during holidays. This demonstrates his unwavering dedication to passing on his
knowledge and experience to the next generation of karate practitioners, despite having other
responsibilities.
Ashok Gurung's contributions are truly inspiring and play a pivotal role in fostering a strong and
knowledgeable karate community. His passion for Karate and willingness to impart his expertise
undoubtedly benefit the students he trains, contributing significantly to the growth and
