ABOUT US

The Transamerican Association of Shito-Ryu Karate-Do (TASK) is a distinguished organization comprising numerous Dojos, schools dedicated to the Japanese martial art, Shito-Ryu Karate, spanning across various states in the United States. It holds non-profit status as a duly incorporated entity in the state of Pennsylvania. The esteemed founder, Sensei TR Yamphu Rai, is a former refugee from Bhutan who resettled in the United States in 2015.

Prior to the establishment of TASK, Sensei Rai led another notable organization known as the Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Association of Bhutan (SKAB) within the Bhutanese refugee camps since 1993. The Dojos in each refugee camp collectively engaged in numerous national and international Karate tournaments. Noteworthy events include the Asian Karate Championship in New Delhi, India (1994), SAARC Women’s Karate and Kickboxing Championship in Damak, Nepal (1995), International Karate Championship in Puna, India (1995), International Karate Championship in Dhulabari, Nepal (1996), South Asian Karate Championship in Pokhara, Nepal (2000), South Asian Karate Championship in Bangalore, India (2003), First Hiromasa Tanaka Karate and Kickboxing Championship in Birtamode, Nepal (2004), BP Koirala Memorial International Karate Championship in Dharan, Nepal (2008), and the 6th International Karate Championship in Lalitpur, Nepal (2013), among others, where participants secured numerous medals. SKAB continues its presence in Nepal with the support of TASK.

The core objective of this martial art form extends beyond physical prowess. TASK seeks to instill discipline acquired at home and school, fostering confidence among its younger practitioners. More significantly, TASK is dedicated to cultivating a Karate culture characterized by self-discipline, steadfastness, and perseverance. These qualities contribute to the holistic well-being and growth of its students, thereby positively impacting the communities in which they reside.

At present, TASK holds affiliation with the United States National Karate Federation (NKF) and is actively pursuing affiliation with the World Karate Federation (WKF).
